Academic, Faculty Development, and Curriculum Development Experience:

Dr. Carpenter has 45 years of experience in nursing education, 21 of those years as Dean or Director of Nursing programs. She has founded three new nursing programs.

As a Director, Dr. Carpenter Was Responsible for:

  • The development, implementation, revision, candidacy for accreditation, and accreditation of LPN, BSN, and RN to BSN programs.

  • Day-to-day operations for all aspects of three nursing programs.

  • Co-developed and implemented a new concept-based nursing curriculum.

  • Developed/revised administrative and organizational structures

  • Administered inter-institutional programs

  • Mentored faculty and administrators

 

As a Dean, Dr. Carpenter:

  • Founded a new school of nursing in a new state college based on the caring theories of Drs. Jean Watson, Marilyn Ray, and Christopher Johns.

  • Guided faculty in meeting their expected teaching, scholarship, service, and practice outcomes for retention and tenure.

  • Obtained federal, state, and local funding for program and faculty development, student financial aid, and program development and expansion.

  • Co-Chaired and served on steering committees for University accreditation.

  • Provided strategic planning

  • Developed/implemented new programs and schools

  • Administered collaborative programs between non-related institutions

  • Administered and delivered distance education programs

 

Accreditation Experience:

Dr. Carpenter has over 20 years of experience writing accreditation self-studies and reports. Her experience includes:

  • Writing initial and continuing CCNE accreditation reports and achieving accreditation for BSN and RN to BSN programs.

  • Writing and receiving NLNAC or ACEN candidacy and/or initial and continuing accreditation for LPN, BSN, RN to BSN programs.

  • Consulted with LPN and RN to BSN schools of nursing for NLNAC accreditation.

Dr. Johnson has 30 years of experience in nursing education, with 22 of those years as an associate dean for academic programs or as a dean.

As an Associate Dean, Dr. Johnson Was Responsible for:

  • Development, implementation, revision, and accreditation of BSN (traditional and accelerated), BSN-RN, MSN, DNP, and PhD programs

  • Day-to-day operations of interdisciplinary gerontology programs, interdisciplinary simulation laboratories, student services, and distance education

 

As a Dean/Director, Dr. Johnson:

  • Led schools and colleges of nursing/health professions recognized as addressing the needs of underserved populations

  • Guided faculty in meeting their expected teaching, scholarly, service, and practice outcomes for successful retention and tenure

  • Obtained federal, state, and local funding for program and faculty development, student financial aid, and  program expansion

  • Developed/revised administrative and organizational structures

  • Mentored faculty and administrators

  • Administered programs across multiple campuses

  • Developed/implemented new programs and schools

  • Administered programs across multiple geographical sites within the same institution

  • Administered collaborative programs between non-related institutions

  • Administered and delivered distance education programs

 

Accreditation Experience:

Dr. Johnson has 20 years of experience as a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation onsite evaluator and has led 38 accreditations teams. Her experience includes:

  • Twelve years as a team leader for onsite evaluation visits to schools applying for CCNE accreditation for their on ground and /or distance BSN, BSN-RN, MSN, DNP, and certificate programs

  • Current member of the CCNE Substantive Change Review Committee 

  • Six years as a member of CCNE’s Accreditation Review Committee. This committee makes recommendations to the CCNE Board of Commissioners regarding program accreditation

 

Consulting Experience:

  • Eight years of on-site and distance consultation for institutional, regional, and CCNE accreditation

  • Over 15 years consulting on curriculum, program, and faculty development
