Connie J. Carpenter

Academic, Faculty Development, and Curriculum Development Experience:

Dr. Carpenter has 45 years of experience in nursing education, 21 of those years as Dean or Director of Nursing programs. She has founded three new nursing programs.

As a Director, Dr. Carpenter Was Responsible for:

  • The development, implementation, revision, candidacy for accreditation, and accreditation of LPN, BSN, and RN to BSN programs.

  • Day-to-day operations for all aspects of three nursing programs.

  • Co-developed and implemented a new concept-based nursing curriculum.

  • Developed/revised administrative and organizational structures

  • Administered inter-institutional programs

  • Mentored faculty and administrators

 

As a Dean, Dr. Carpenter:

  • Founded a new school of nursing in a new state college based on the caring theories of Drs. Jean Watson, Marilyn Ray, and Christopher Johns.

  • Guided faculty in meeting their expected teaching, scholarship, service, and practice outcomes for retention and tenure.

  • Obtained federal, state, and local funding for program and faculty development, student financial aid, and program development and expansion.

  • Co-Chaired and served on steering committees for University accreditation.

  • Provided strategic planning

  • Developed/implemented new programs and schools

  • Administered collaborative programs between non-related institutions

  • Administered and delivered distance education programs

 

Accreditation Experience:

Dr. Carpenter has over 20 years of experience writing accreditation self-studies and reports. Her experience includes:

  • Writing initial and continuing CCNE accreditation reports and achieving accreditation for BSN and RN to BSN programs.

  • Writing and receiving NLNAC or ACEN candidacy and/or initial and continuing accreditation for LPN, BSN, RN to BSN programs.

  • Consulted with LPN and RN to BSN schools of nursing for NLNAC accreditation.

"I have been involved with nursing education for the last nineteen years. I have taught regular track BSN, RN-BSN, and accelerated track BSN courses. I have also been an RN-BSN Coordinator and have been active in student advising, curriculum development, course development and a faculty member in BSN, LPN, and CNA programs."

Academic, Faculty Development, and Curriculum Development Experience:

  • Ms. Jacobson has experience in the curricular development and curricular revision; course development; and CCNE accreditation preparation, as well as, faculty development.

  • Developed and established home care agencies in Arizona and Nevada.

  • Developed and established a home hospice agency in Arizona.

  • Developed programs and services to ease the patient in the transition from institution to home, such as patient/family/caregiver education with emphasis on self-care as a conceptual basis of nursing in both Home Health and Hospice agencies.

  • Developed performance improvement processes and monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for both home health and hospice. Developed a clinical chart audit process, data collection, analysis, developing and implementing performance improvement processes for a Medicare Certified Home Health and Hospice Agency.

  • Obtained initial Joint Commission Accreditation and Medicare Certification for new Home Health and Hospice Agencies.

Teaching Experience:

  • Nursing Skills Labs, Community Health Practicum; Human Care Nursing in the Community, and Exploration of Nursing as Profession 

  • Developed and taught Cultural Diversity in Health Care, Medical Terminology, Transitions in Nursing, and Nursing Leadership in the 21st Century 

  • Taught Community Health didactic and practicum experiences
